FAQS
Frequently asked questions.
Do you have to be of Tongan heritage to play for QTRL?
Yes! To be eligible, your parents or grandparents must have Tongan heritage, and you should be prepared to provide proof if requested.
QTRL will only consider non-Tongans if we cannot fill certain positions with Tongans. The safety and well-being of our players are our top priority, so we will not select Tongan players whom we believe are unable to perform at the representative level, as this could jeopardise their safety and the safety of others..
Does QTRL have zones?
QTRL does not have designated zones; instead, we are connected with three regions: Saute Stallions (South), Gold Coast Barbarians, and Hahake Falcons (North).
To participate in Junior QPICC under QTRL, and to be considered for QTRL representative teams, players must be registered with one of these three regions.
Will there be supporters gear?
YES! We will have supporters gear this year.
Who is QTRL affiliated to?
QTRL serves as the official governing body for Tonga Rugby League in Queensland. We operate under the guidance of our national board, Tonga Rugby XIII.
QTRL Representative Fees?
Players selected to represent QTRL at QPICC will be required to pay a fee. This fee will be confirmed soon.
Will QTRL tour?
Yes! Be sure to watch our Instagram and Facebook for updates on our 2026 tour to TONGA!
